COMPLNR FIELD GUIDE

How to escalate an unresolved complaint

Escalation works best when each step adds clarity, evidence or the right decision-maker.

Confirm the business position

Ask whether the response is final and request the reason in writing. This prevents another round of the same troubleshooting.

Send a concise escalation

Summarise the timeline, previous case numbers, the unresolved point and the remedy you seek. Avoid restarting the entire story.

Find the correct external body

Depending on the issue, an Australian consumer agency, specialist ombudsman, tribunal or court may be relevant. Check the body’s official website for eligibility and time limits.

Protect your evidence

Keep contracts, invoices, screenshots and correspondence together. Redact account numbers and private details before sharing anything publicly.
