COMPLNR FIELD GUIDE

How to document a consumer complaint

Good records make your complaint easier to understand and harder to lose in a support queue.

Create a one-page timeline

List the purchase, first problem, each contact and the latest response in date order. Keep entries short and factual.

Save the source documents

Keep receipts, terms, product listings, invoices, photos and messages in one folder. Preserve the original files where possible.

Record calls safely

Write the date, time, channel, case number and agreed next step. Check local law before recording a call.

Prepare a shareable copy

Make a redacted version without payment details, passwords, addresses or irrelevant information about private people.

Keep it safe
